Terry Fox was an amazing guy. One day sadly he couldn’t get out of bed so he called 911 and he had tests. He found out that he had cancer in his leg and that he had to have his leg amputated! If we heard that news we would be sad and shocked, but for Terry that wasn’t the end, it was just the beginning.
One night not too long after that, he had a dream that he ran across Canada. At first he thought it was fake, but after he tried to make it happen.
He trained for 15 months then he started the Marathon of Hope. He dipped his amputated leg and two buckets into the Atlantic ocean. He ran from Newfoundland to Thunder Bay. That’s when he sadly got cancer in his lungs. He had to cancel the marathon of hope.
On June 28 1981 this extraordinary man died. He died, but his spirit is still with us.
