The Kindness Of Strangers… and Friends

Last week something beautiful happened.  One of my students, sent a request through our class website, asking for help:

After reading Book Love this past summer, I have been really pushing the idea of falling in love with books in my class.  A lot of my students have never heard a teacher say things like “it’s ok to break up with this book” or  ask “how are you ever going to fall in love with this if you’re not spending time getting to know it?”

So… my student reached out, and I gave her question a little bump.  I re-asked it to more people:

and they answered,

and asked others to respond too!

She was floored by all of the responses.  I don’t know that she had any idea how kind strangers could be.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

P.S. She found a book too… and if the early sparks are any indication, I think that love is in the air.

  1. My compliments to you and your students on a wonderful website. Thank you for bringing 21st century learning into the classroom and for encouraging technology in and outside of the classroom. A great opportunity for all.
