Growing Patterns – Our Current Definition

After a first look at some patterns, here is our definition of a growing pattern:

A growing pattern MUST:

-shapes/numbers/objects (etc) that keeps adding/multiplying

– increase (by one or more each time)

– repeats but adds (keep the old stuff; add some new stuff)

– must make sense (a clear rule)

-keeps going

– repeats itself at least twice

Next math class we will work on applying this definition critically to some patterns in order to determine if they are in fact growing patterns.
